Meet Shania

Wagwan, Ciao, Hello! My name is Shania Shields.

Shania Shields is a multi-ethnic actress, dancer, and singer based in both New York City and Los Angeles, California. Her mother is of Italian and Irish descent and her father is Jamaican, with roots in Jamaica, which has helped her understand and speak Jamaican patois.

After receiving multiple scholarships and graduating in 2021 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in drama from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, Shania has worked with multiple talented artists within the industry such as her mentor actress Elizabeth Alderfer, director Blaze Mancillas in Reelarc, and alongside actor Paul Giamatti in an episode of an American drama television series Billions, which features Shania as an upscale server in a rooftop bar scene.

Shania continues to train in dance at Broadway Dance Center in hopes of participating in the Rockette Summer Intensive. She has received terrific feedback from her peers and famous photographer Joe McNally during a Rockette Themed dance shoot and introductory class for photographers. Shortly after working on an on-stage live production of Duck! at the Manhattan Repertory Theater, Shania discovered her interest for voice-over acting and began working on a three act comedy audio play called The Foxes in her role as Zharaa, in which the play is now being pitched to the podcast company Audible. Shania is now a signed actress and is represented by the amazing Gill Talent Group.

During her education at New York University, Shania has trained at the Playwrights Horizons Studios, Atlantic School of Acting, and Stonestreet Studios. During her studio training, Shania has had the opportunity to work with professionals such as Lisa Hickman, Todd Thaler, Arnold Mungioli, and many more amazing instructors who have helped Shania craft her technique and delve deeper into her passion for acting. When it comes to singing, Shania discovered her voice at a young age when her father used to write songs for her and sing to her over the phone while in Jamaica. Later in highschool, Shania began getting cast as lead roles in musicals such as Barnum in her role as Charity and Annie in her role as Grace. During her senior year of high school, Shania was Assistant Director for Charlotte’s Web. During her undergraduate years, Shania continued to coach with Caroline Selia and Aidan Davis who specialize in vocal coaching and Quentin Moore and Doug Paulson who specialize in voice and speech.

Once in a blue moon when Shania is not acting, dancing, or singing, she is rather leading a yoga/meditation class, traveling the world, or taking care of animals at either an animal sanctuary, aquarium, or right there in her apartment!
